Premier League Clubs Battle For Group Dominance: Top UCL Games Matchday 5

UEFA Champions League group stage matches are winding down just as the FIFA World Cup is turning up.

UCL groups D and E are still up for grabs, resulting in a hard-to-predict mid-week viewing schedule.

These are the top Champions League matches to watch this week, even if they are all in the middle of the workday.

All games are airing on Paramount+.

RB Salzburg-Chelsea

When: Tuesday, 9:45 am PST

Scouting Report: Group E is far from settled, with Chelsea leading RB by one point for first place. All of Group E could still advance if they all win out – of course, they can’t all win out. Plus, Captain America Christian Pulisic will start for Chelsea in Austria.

Prediction: 2-1, Chelsea

Benfica-Juventus

When: Tuesday, Noon PST

Scouting Report: Though PSG and Benfica are mostly safe, Group H is theoretically up for grabs – if Juve wins today and next week on top of another Benfica loss next week, Juventus could save their UCL season and go through. Weston McKennie’s side has been returning to form in Serie A – can they start their Champions League comeback?

Prediction: 2-2

Barcelona-Bayern

When: Wednesday, Noon PST

Scouting Report: This game means nothing but pride for Bayern Munich, who have already secured a spot from Group C. If Inter defeats Viktoria earlier in the day, then Barca will be fighting for a Europa League spot instead of the UCL knockout stages. Either way, Barca will want to fight, with both the club and leading scorer Robert Lewandowski hoping to prove something to the Bavarian giants.

Prediction: 3-2, Barcelona

Tottenham-Sporting CP

When: Wednesday, Noon PST

Scouting Report: Group D is the most competitive remaining group with every team still in a position to move to the next round. Conte’s Tottenham has had a rough go domestically as of late while Sporting has cooled down in the UCL after a hot start, including a 2-0 win over Hotspur. Can the Portuguese club reclaim their lost momentum in London? Or will Tottenham finally assert its authority?

Prediction: 3-1, Tottenham
