Chelsea vs. Man U and More: The US Guide to Weekend Football

Ronaldo-less and rejuvenated Red Devil squad will travel to London to take on Chelsea on Saturday, but that may not even be the best game of the weekend.

Top five battles are going down in the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A tables all weekend long, with Serie A perhaps proving itself the most entertaining once again.

From Germany to Italy, here’s the weekender’s guide to the top European soccer matches.

Bundesliga

Match: Hoffenheim v. Bayern

When and Where: Saturday, 6:30 am PST, ESPN+

Scouting Report: #2 Bayern Munich visits #4 Hoffenheim this weekend in what should be a defensive test for the home team. Hoffenheim stands a much better chance than if they were in Bayern, but the presence of Leroy Sanรฉ and Sadio Manรฉ will probably be too much for the Hoff to handle.

Prediction: 2-0, Bayern

LaLiga

Match: Real Betis vs. Atletico Madrid

When and Where: Sunday, 7:15 am PST, ESPN+

Scouting Report: Atletico Madrid travels to Seville on Sunday to take on the other Sevilla team, Real Betis, who are having a strong start to their season. Were this game in Madrid, we would predict a mirror score, but since Betis will have the home-field advantage, we think they’re coming out on top.

Prediction: 2-1, Betis

Ligue 1

Match: Marseille vs. Lens

When and Where: Saturday, Noon PST, beIN SPORTS

Scouting Report: We are breaking from tradition by choosing a French game that won’t feature Neymar, Messi, or Mbappe, going with #3 Lens traveling to take on #4 Marseille. Though they’ve lost their last two domestic contests, Marseille has shown their quality in the Champions League and can run away with this one at home.

Prediction: 3-1, Marseille

Premier League

Match: Chelsea vs. Manchester United

When and Where: Saturday, 9:30 am PST, NBC Sports

Scouting Report: While Man City-Brighton and Tottenham-Newcastle are both sneaky great games, all eyes will be on Chelsea this weekend as Man U tries to keep up the momentum after stunning Tottenham earlier this week. Man U will be withoutย Ronaldo, but then again,ย they haven’t really had him all season. USMNT starย Christian Pulisicย is looking like his old self off the bench under Potter – hopefully, Captain America nets the game-winner.

Prediction: 2-1, Chelsea

Serie A

Match: Roma vs. Napoli

When and Where: Sunday, 11:45 am PST, Paramount+

Scouting Report: This year’s Derby del Sole is going to be a battle for the ages, and maybe not even the best Serie A game on Sunday (Atalanta takes on Lazio earlier in the day, too.) Both teams have been on top all season long, but Napoli has been unstoppable. Were this game in Naples, we’d call it 4-0 for the home team. But since it’s in Rome, expect Josรฉ Mourinho’s men to put up one hell of a fight. But in the end – Napoli is probably just too good this season and won’t pick up their first loss on Sunday.

Prediction: 3-2, Napoli
