El Clasico or Le Classique? Top Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A Games This Weekend

It’s another weekend full of bangers in top-flight European football action as all the best squads prepare to face off on Sunday.

El Clasico and Le Classique headline in Spain and France, but Germany has four teams battling head-to-head to go top of the table.

Here are the best Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A games to catch this weekend.

Bundesliga

Match: Union Berlin-Dortmund

When and Where: Sunday, 8:30 am PST, ESPN+

Scouting Report: Two great Bundesliga top-4 battles are going back-to-back Sunday morning. The first game, #1 Union Berlin vs. #4 Dortmund, pits USMNT hopefuls Jordan Pefok of Berlin against Gio Reyna of Dortmund. The second game, #2 SC Freiburg versus #3 Bayern Munich, should also be top-class, but it has fewer (0) Americans.

Prediction: 4-2, Union Berlin

LaLiga

Match: Real Madrid-Barcelona

When and Where: Sunday, 7:15 am PST, ESPN+

Scouting Report: Los Blancos will host the first round of this season’s El Clasico from the number two spot on the LaLiga table. Barcelona may be tops, but they are certainly underdogs given their recent slew of injuries and impotent performance in the Champions League. Xavi’s men will play fiery football – but their defense has no chance against Vini Jr. and Benzema at home.

Prediction: 3-1, Real Madrid

Ligue 1

Match: PSG-Marseille

When and Where: Sunday, 11:45 am PST, beIN SPORTS

Scouting Report: It’s #1 PSG taking on #3 Marseille at home in a Ligue 1 game that might actually be interesting – Le Classique. Marseille has won their last two Champions League games over Sporting CP but has seen more mixed results domestically. PSG is fresh off a round of Mbappe exit rumors and three ties in a row. Expect Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe to do their thing.

Prediction: 5-3, PSG

Premier League

Match: Liverpool-Manchester City

When and Where: Sunday, 8:30 am, NBC Sports

Scouting Report: If this game were in Manchester, we’d be calling it 5-0 City. But since it is in Liverpool, Klopp’s men will put up a characteristic fight and should make it hard for the Light Blues. Salah is in form, fresh off the fastest UCL hat trick ever… But compared to the feats of Haaland this season, Salah hardly holds water. City will eventually take over, probably thanks to Haaland.

Prediction: 3-2, City

Serie A

Match: Lazio-Udinese

When and Where: Sunday, 6 am PST, Paramount+

Scouting Report: Udinese is the surprise of Serie A this season, holding on to the fourth position with a wild 2-2 draw against Atalanta last week. #3 Lazio has won four in a row, but Udinese hasn’t lost in over five games. Should be a defensive slugfest that comes down to the final whistle.

Prediction: 2-2
