Top 5 Finishes From a Weekend Overflowing With Golazos

Top-flight European football returned to action with too many goals to count, including a nine-goal Manchester Derby blowout.

Even though Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both had hat-tricks during the thrashing, none of their six shared goals were spectacular enough by their own high standards to crack the top five finishes of the weekend.

Here are the top five finishes from Ligue 1, LaLiga, Serie A, and the Premier League this weekend.

Sorry, North London derby fans – none of those goals reached the top, either.

5 – Rafael Leão – AC Milan

AC Milan is on a hot streak, and Leão is leading the charge. The Portuguese striker’s play is gaining rumored interest from Man City, which allegedly has Milan looking at Pulisic in case Leão says ciao.

4 – Rodrigo Riquelme – Girona FC

This week’s LaLiga entry comes from a relative unknown, Riquelme, on loan to Girona from Atletico Madrid. Madrid will be calling soon enough if Riquelme keeps up the nut-megs.

3 – Messi – PSG

In this week’s obligatory PSG goal, we have Leo Messi doing what he does best – hitting impossible free kicks. Lionel is in GOAT-form as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar draws near.

2 – Conor Gallagher – Chelsea

Conor Gallagher scores his first Chelsea goal in style off an assist from Captain America himself, Christian Pulisic. Notice his muted celebration – Gallagher’s game-winner comes against his former club.

1 – Miguel Almiron – Newcastle

Former Atlanta United standout and MLS Champion Miguel Almiron left Fulham’s keeper helpless on this off-balance left-footed one touch. The angle was near-impossible, but Almiron found a way.
