Napoli, Udinese, and Atalanta Jump at Serie A Crown As Juventus Seeks Rejuvenation

Three teams are racing to the top of a highly-contested Serie A table after weekend fixtures pitting the top six clubs against one another.

Udinese, Atalanta, and Napoli pulled out huge wins over Inter Milan, Roma, and AC Milan on Sunday, cementing Italy’s top flight as the most entertaining European league this season.

Napoli, Atalanta, and Udinese are at the top, only separated by a point.

While Napoli and Atalanta have buzzed around the top of the table for decades, Udinese is a surprise, especially considering where Juventus is. The Udinese Underdogs have won their last five games, their last loss coming to AC Milan. Udinese defeated Inter Milan 3-1 this past weekend, fighting for their 16th point in the table.

Napoli and Atalanta, both with 17 points and separated only by Napoli’s +10 goal differential, earned tough wins over AC Milan and Roma respectively on Sunday, both on the road. The teams Napoli, Atalanta, and Udinese defeated now sit at fifth, sixth, and seventh in the table, with an upstart Lazio at number four heading into the international break.

Juventus has fallen to eighth in the table, though they look much worse.

Though USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie is playing out of his head to help save his team, Juve continues to drown across all competitions.

After losing 2-1 to Benfica at home on Wednesday in the Champions League, Juve dropped three points to the then last-place Monza 1-0 in Serie A. Things couldn’t possibly look worse for Juventus heading into the international break as they haven’t won a game since August, the last time they won a Serie A game. Though fans and journalists are calling for the head coach Max Allegri’s head, Juve has made it crystal they have no intention of letting him go.
