No Dancing! Atletico Madrid Sends Footloose-Esque Warning to Real’s Vini Jr Ahead of Derby

This Sunday’s Madrid Derby is already getting spicy as Atletico players warn Real Madrid superstar Vini Jr to mind his dance moves.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr has scored four goals in his first five LaLiga games this season, usually followed by his favorite celebration – the joyful expression of dance.

Vini’s feet have been extra active this season, first with the goal scoring and then with the dancing.

But ahead of the Madrid Derby with crosstown rival Atleti, Koke is issuing a Footloose-Esque warning to the Brazilian goalscorer.

Atletico Madrid, currently seventh in the LaLiga table, is a team with a reputation for conjuring the ‘dark arts,’ as too many commentators call it. Basically, if Atleti is losing, they aren’t afraid to roshambo your best player. Koke’s thinly-veiled threat is a hint of the fireworks to come on Sunday when the two rivals go head to head in Spain’s capital.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, for his part, is a fan of the South American samba, per ESPN.

“He is a Brazilian, he dances very well, and I don’t think it bothers anyone. He doesn’t need to change anything regarding his attitude because he respects his rivals and the referee a lot.

He is a special player because of how he plays, although at times, because of his way of playing, rivals might get angry.”

The back-and-forth between the heated rivals has sparked the #BailaVini movement on Twitter, forcing social media users to take sides.

Brazilian legend Pele even got in on the comments section, throwing his full support behind his talented countryman.

With Benzema still nursing a muscle strain, Real Madrid will rely on Vini Jr to shuffle his feet and score some goals this weekend.

Have your popcorn ready – Atleti takes on Los Blancos on Sunday at noon, PST, on ESPN+.
