Liverpool and Chelsea will fight desperately to bounce back while two Bundesliga legends face their old clubs.
This week’s Champions League slate is more salivating than ever, with top clubs battling for supremacy all over Europe.
Though there are too many top-shelf games to choose from, these are the four most worth your while.
All games will air on Paramount+ and CBSSports.
Liverpool-Ajax
When: Tuesday, Noon PST
Scouting Report: After getting thrashed 4-1 by Napoli last week, LFC will be grateful for the last weekend off the recuperate. Ajax is on fire this year, even without Antony, after crushing Rangers 4-0 last week. Ajax looks to have the advantage, but Liverpool will be running like their lives depend on it. Somehow, this already feels like a must-win for The Reds, who perform well under pressure.
Prediction: 3-1, Liverpool
Bayern Munich-Barcelona
When: Tuesday, Noon PST
Scouting Report: Robert Lewandowski will make his highly-anticipated return to Allianz Stadium on Tuesday, this time wearing a Barcelona shirt. Lewy is a goal-scoring machine in Catalonia, just like in Germany with Bayern. Munich has been short of goals lately, tying their last three Bundesliga outings. Barcelona is having no trouble finding the net this season, but can they keep Bayern’s attack out of theirs?
Prediction: 6-4, Barcelona
Chelsea-RB Salzburg
When: Wednesday, Noon PST
Scouting Report: Much like Liverpool, Chelsea (and new manager Graham Potter) will be thankful for the weekend off to prepare after an embarrassing opening day loss. Potter’s first test as a big six head coach will come against RB Salzburg, fresh off a 1-1 tie with AC Milan in the UCL and a 3-0 win in the Austrian Bundesliga. Expectations are high at Chelsea – maybe Potter can finally get them to produce. Even though this is only the second game, it already feels like a win-or-go-home match for The Blues.
Prediction: 1-1
Manchester City-Dortmund
When: Wednesday, Noon PST
Scouting Report: As with all things Man City these days, this game’s conversation will center around Erling Haaland, former Dortmund wunderkind. Man City undeniably has the advantage in this game, with Haaland being in ridiculous form on his home turf. Look for USMNT star Gio Reyna to make a difference for Borussia, possibly linking up with BFF Jude Bellingham. Expect a fast-paced game with City pulling away in the final third.
Prediction: 5-2, Manchester City
