DEADLINE DAY: Antony Completes Man U Signing, Chelsea Trades Alonso for Auba

Ten Hag’s vision for Old Trafford nears completion as Europe’s summer transfer window is officially closing.

Man U is looking more and more like Ajax 2.0 with the signing of Brazilian top-spinner Antony on a five-year deal, per ESPN reports.

Antony became the most expensive Eredivisie signing ever on Monday, signing a deal worth 95 million euros (the US dollar and the Euro are essentially 1:1 at time of writing) with an additional $5 million in bonuses.

Antony is Manchester’s second-most expensive signing ever after Paul Pogba, who many fans would argue was also the biggest flop in club history. Red Devils everywhere hope their new striker won’t suffer the same fate.

Ten Hag has been fighting desperately to save a drowning Man U squad, adding superstars like Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez to the now-improving club. Somehow, even CR7 can’t find a starting position among the new signings.

According to transfer king Fabrizio Romano, Erik Ten Hag says Ronaldo is happy with his new position at the club.

“From the start, we said we planned with Cristiano, it was clear. We are on the same page with him…

We are happy with him, he’s happy to be here and we want to make the season a success together.”

Ten Hag had also previously shown interest in former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Pierre Aubameyang, who has confirmed a move back to the Premier League today with Thomas Tuchel’s struggling Chelsea FC.

According to Romano, Aubameyang will fly to London today to complete the $14 million deal, which includes sending Spanish defender Marcos Alonso to his club of choice, FC Barcelona, on a three-year deal.

Aubameyang, who suffered a broken jaw during a break-in and robbery of his Barcelona home earlier this week, will join Chelsea on a two-year deal with an option for a third. Auba has a good relationship with Tuchel from their Borussia Dortmund days in the Bundesliga. The Blues are desperate for fire-power after opening the season with fewer goals than Erling Haaland alone.
