Surprising stars (and stripes) emerged on soccer’s biggest stages this weekend as USMNT players wreaked havoc all over Europe.
As the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar nears, USMNT players are making an impact in the world’s most competitive leagues.
Here are the top USMNT moments from the Premier League and Bundesliga opening weekend (sorry, Ligue 1 – we only cover you because of Messi.)
Top USMNT Moments From Opening Weekend
Is Leeds United America’s Team?
Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams started (Adams, to his credit, put in a full 90) in Leeds’ 2-1 come-from-behind win over the Wolves, despite Neto doing Neto things.
Aaronson basically scored the winning goal (it was technically an OG, but OG Aaronson is claiming it).
Then, after the win, American coach Jesse Marsch went after Wolves coach Bruno Lage, presumably in a disagreement about who got da most dawg in dey heart.
Either way, the USMNT middie is being called BA7 now, which is badass times seven.
Over at Chelsea, we had a Pulisic appearance about an hour into the Everton game to kick some life into an otherwise sleepy affair.
And finally, in the Bundesliga, USMNT striker Jordan Pefok (aka Theoson-Jordan Siebatcheu) has Berlin seeing red with his beautiful header over the helpless Hertha keeper.
USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna did not see any playing time in Dortmund’s win over Leverkusen as he is still in the late stages of injury recovery.
More USMNT stars will strike next weekend as La Liga and Serie A kick-off.
